For every craft fair, I like to create a large show piece that I don’t anticipate to sell, but it’s size and scope draws people in and creates conversation. I had a craft fair back in March, and since Zelda: Breath of the Wild just came out, I wanted to make the rusted Master Sword.
I found a really well-designed Master Sword by BITland on DeviantArt that was closest to the Breath of the Wild sword and used it as a starting point. I adjusted the blade colors to what beads I had, tinkered with the hilt design, and added the rust and cracks.
I love how it turned out. As expected, I didn’t sell it at the craft fair. However, I offered to donate it to a local pet rescue festival, an event I hoped to be part of. Since I will be back in New York for my last dance recital, I won’t be able to attend the event this weekend. I painted a 24″ x 12″ canvas a metallic silver and mounted it with Elmer’s craft bond. The sword itself is nearly 3-feet in length. I have my fingers crossed it will bring in a fair amount of raffle ticket money for the area animal shelters.
